About this Vehicle
This fabulous, original UK, right-hand drive 1961 Austin Healey 3000 Mk.I BT7 was dispatched on 30th March 1961 to Milne and Russell, Limited of Croydon Surrey. Registered 6861 BY', it was originally ordered with wire-wheels, overdrive, a heater, laminated windscreen, and 'road speed' tyres. Upon delivery, the car was sent to the respected specialist tuners, Rudds of Worthing, for the following upgrades:
- High-compression (9.7:1) gas flowed cylinder head with equalised combustion chambers
- Balanced crankshaft, lightened and balanced flywheel
- Triple inlet manifold with a third SU carburettor
- High-lift camshaft
- Fabricated exhaust manifold and modified side-exit exhaust system
In 1997 the owner commissioned highly respected Healey restorers Rawles Engineering to do a total restoration of 6861 BY. Bill Rawles and his dedicated team took exactly a year to bring the big car back to life attending to every inch of the car's bodywork and patiently going through the rest of the car with as many original components being restored and reused as possible. The owner's file includes a raft of invoices covering this period and is accompanied by a photo album illustrating the work in detail.
A true Classic in every sense of the word.
